Watch: Beady Eye – The Roller

Liam Gallagher’s post-Oasis band Beady Eye took to Abbey Road to play a few tunes from their debut album Different Gear, Still Speeding. The album isn’t anything groundbreaking, but if you’ve kept with Oasis for this long, it’s definitely worthwhile. Whereas Damon Albarn has gone forward with his music-making, becoming more adventurous and trying out new things, Liam Gallagher has gone deeper and deeper into trying to be John Lennon.

In a fantastic interview with the Quietus, Liam gives his opinion on the new Radiohead album:
“I heard that fucking Radiohead record and I just go, ‘What?!’ I like to think that what we do, we do fucking well. Them writing a song about a fucking tree? Give me a fucking break! A thousand year old tree? Go fuck yourself! You’d have thought he’d have written a song about a modern tree or one that was planted last week. You know what I mean?”

  1. The Gallaghers are always a good read (and on the money lots of the time) but Beady Eye are well….not Radiohead (not even shite contemporary Radiohead).

  2. Definitely true, but for some throwaway rock, they’re not bad. It’s better than the last Oasis record, that’s for sure.
