Hidden Highways is the self-titled debut EP from two of Ireland’s most underrated songwriters, Carol Anne McGowan and Tim V. Smyth. It’s a laid-back folk record, containing four tunes’ worth of beautiful harmony. McGowan’s voice lifts the simple country-vibe of the songs, particularly on the She & Him-styled opener ‘In Defence of Magpies’. Smyth’s vocal is much more straight-forward, and suits the narrative style of songs such as ‘Burnt Ships’. One for folk fans to check out.
The EP will be released phsyically on Out on a Limb Records on Record Store Day, April 21st, with a digital release coming the following week.
