Watch: The Scenes – Fish Out of Water

‘Fish Out of Water’ is the rocking new tune from five-piece Sunny South-East band the Scenes. They released the well-produced video during the week, and it’s already racked up over 1000 views on youtube. The song features a great riff at the two minute mark which reminds me of something, but I just can’t put my finger on it. The song itself is written by the band’s guitarist, Liam Redmond, who has moved on from the faux-US pop of Saving J to something a bit more real. I always felt like Saving J were trying too hard to sound like an American pop-rock band, and never really let their actual talent come through. Luckily their lead vocalist Sean Redmond is nowhere to be found. Instead, the Scenes have former solo artist Sean Watmore on vocals, and he adds a Tim Wheeler-circa-1977 feel to this impressive debut.
