Last year Dublin electro-pop trio Sleep Thieves released their debut album Heart Waves to much acclaim – I named it my #1 album of 2011, and they’ve followed it up with the equally spectacular EP Islands. It’s darker, broodier, and much more atmospheric than the album, but songs like the breathtaking ‘Oceans’ and the funky ‘Spirit Animal’ retain the charms of old. Another top quality release that marks them out as the finest act in Ireland today.
The EP is seven euro and can be downloaded over on their bandcamp page. They’re playing a free gig at the Workman’s Club on May 31st (referendum day) to celebrate, with doors opening at 8. Head on down to hear the new songs live.
