Paul Simon brings his Graceland 25th Anniversary Tour to the O2 in Dublin tonight and tomorrow night, where he will play that seminal album in its entirety, as well as pulling out some of his other classics, and maybe a Simon & Garfunkel tune along the way. He’s played ‘Cecilia’, ‘The Only Living Boy in New York’, and ‘The Boxer’ recently, so it won’t be an entire Graceland show – it’ll be much, much better.
So to get you in the mood, here are my top ten Paul Simon songs…
10. ‘Homeward Bound’ (Simon & Garfunkel – Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme, 1966)
9. ‘A Hazy Shade of Winter’ (Simon & Garfunkel – Bookends, 1966)
8. ‘Graceland’ (Paul Simon – Graceland, 1986)
7. ‘The Only Living Boy in New York’ (Simon & Garfunkel – Bridge Over Troubled Water, 1970)
6. ‘Kodachrome’ (Paul Simon – There Goes Rhymin’ Simon, 1973)
5. ’50 Ways to Leave Your Lover’ (Paul Simon – Still Crazy After All These Years, 1975)
4. ‘The Sound of Silence’ (Simon & Garfunkel – Wednesday Morning, 3AM, 1964)
