Irish singer-songwriter Fionn Regan is getting fairly prolific these days. Last year the released impressive third album 100 Acres of Sycamore, and now he’s back with the follow-up. The Bunkhouse Vol.I: Anchor Black Tattoo is set for release on September 7th, 2012 and promises to be a stripped-back album. It was self-recorded in his Bunkhouse studio with a 4-track and single microphone, and features themes ranging from conversations with the Irish Sea (Mizen to Malin) to the hallucinatory (St. Anthony’s Fire). Or so the press release says.
I’ve had a listen to some of the tracks, most of which come in at around the two minute mark, and can confirm it’s a much bleaker record than Regan’s previous efforts due to the stripped-back nature of the recording, but it easily stands alongside them – especially the delicate title track.
