Fight Like Apes – ‘Hoo Ha Henry’
(Note: As I don’t have a single cover, I’m using the album cover for this one)
‘Hoo Ha Henry’ is the first single from Fight Like Apes’ second album The Body of Christ and the Legs of Tina Turner, which is due for release on August 26th on Model Citizen Records. The single can be streamed right now (have a listen below).
At two minutes and thirty one seconds, it’s exactly what you’d expect from the Apes ahead of the follow-up record. ‘Hoo Ha Henry’ doesn’t have the same impact as their earlier material, but that’s only because of exposure to Fight Like Apes. If this is your first time to hear the band, it’s bound to be freight-train-tearing-up-the-middle-of-main-street life changing.
It’s a funky, catchy song about trading your man in for a less annoying model – not necessarily a better one, just one that’s a little less, well, you know. “Someone like Jenny, Johnny, Billy, or Todd…” in fact, anyone else, really.
The familiar bleeps and bops are there in the background, as well as gorgeous guitar and drumwork. It’s a wonderful earworm of a song, and will keep you coming back for more, again and again, like an endless staircase. I dare you not to press repeat to play it again. Go on, see there’s just no escape.

I was wondering what would the new sound be like now that the original drummer has left… no real impact there! I like the tune, it is catchy.
Just one comment, it is not a guitar (or not quite anyway). It is an overdriven bass. But you could be forgiven for not knowing that!
C: Better edit it to make me look clever so
Hopefully the album will match the single.
