Alt-country rockers American Aquarium first came to my attention thanks to their cover of Whiskeytown’s ‘Excuse Me While I Break My Own Heart Tonight’ (watch it below), but their own material is pretty damn excellent. They have just announced the release date of their upcoming fourth studio album, Burn.Flicker.Die, which is due on August 25th, and was recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama with Jason Isbell producing, and Spooner Oldham & Amanda Shires appearing as guests. A fine pedigree. Have a listen to two new songs, ‘Cape Fear River’ and ‘Redheads and Adderall’ from the album, and also check out that excellent Whiskeytown cover. All three songs were recorded live at the Pour House Music Hall in their home town of Raleigh, North Carolina earlier this year.
